Rule 42 - The Law Society Professional Conduct and Practice Rules
and
Regulation 176 - The New South Wales Legal Profession Act
Rule 42 of the Solicitors' Rules requires that of the 10 CLE units to be
completed by solicitors each year at least one unit must be achieved in each of
the following areas:
- Ethics and Professional Responsibility;
- Practice Management and Business Skills;
- Professional Skills.
Regulation 176 of the NSW Legal Profession Act requires solicitors to complete
one hour CLE on EEO, Discrimination and OH&S every three years.
The March New South Wales State Legal Conference gives every solicitor the
opportunity to complete the compulsory CLE requirement in either of the two
Mandatory CLE Packages offered in the Conference program on Friday 26th March.
Package A
9.00am-12.30pm Mandatory CLE Package I Sessions: 2, 5 & 6
This Package is for solicitors who have completed their Regulation 176
requirement over the past three years and it covers the requirements of Rule 42.
Package D
1.30pm-5.00pm Mandatory CLE Package II Sessions: 8, 11 & 12
This Package is for solicitors who need to complete the requirement for
Regulation 176. The Package also covers all the requirements for Rule 42.
