Conference Information
Registration for Conference Sessions
To register for the Conference, complete the Registration Form and follow the
prompts. You can down load a pdf of the Registration form and send by mail to
the Conference Secretariat at DX 294 Sydney or GPO Box 3505, Sydney, NSW, 2001
or send by Fax to 9565 5714.
MCLE - Mandatory Continuing Legal Education
If any lecture in the Conference is relevant to your immediate or long term
needs in relation to professional development or the practice of law, you should
claim one (1) MCLE unit for each hour of attendance, not including refreshment
breaks. The annual requirement for solicitors is 10 MCLE units and the annual
requirement for solicitors who are accredited specialists is 20 MCLE units,
calculated from 1st April to 31st March the following year. The number of
claimable units for each Conference session is indicated in the program and on
the
Conference at a Glance page.
Regulation 176 and Rule 42
The Conference provides the opportunity for solicitors to comply with the New
South Wales Government's mandatory CLE requirement of Regulation 176 of the New
South Wales Legal Profession Act and Rule 42 of the Law Society Professional
Conduct and Practice Rules, also known as the Solicitors' Rules. Sessions 35, 39
and 41 together satisfy all the requirements of Rule 42 and Session 35 satisfies
the requirements of Regulation 176. Property lawyers should see Sessions 43, 44
& 45 for Rule 42 and family lawyers should see Session 4 on the Conference
program which also covers the requirements of Rule 42. Solicitors who register
for the full day session, Session 6 Online Legal Research, also comply with the
requirements of Rule 42.
Cancellation of Conference Session Registrations
Cancellations of registrations for Conference sessions must be in writing.
Cancellations will be accepted and refunds paid, less a 15% administration fee,
when they are made up to seven (7) days prior to the Conference sessions.
Cancellations after seven days prior to Conference sessions are transferable but
not refundable. People who have registered for Conference sessions and fail to
attend are liable for 100% of the registration fees.
Payment for Conference Session Registrations
Payments for registrations are accepted by cheque or on MasterCard, VISA, Diners
or Amex.
Conference Catering
Morning Coffee is provided for Conference attendees on arrival, Morning Tea and
Afternoon Tea is also provided. Luncheon is included, free of charge, with every
Full Day Conference Package.
Acknowledgements
The New South Wales State Legal Conference management acknowledges the
assistance of Australian Conference Organisers in the planning for and the
preparation of the March 2013 Conference.
Conference Parking
Parking is available at a special rate of $10 per day for Conference attendees
at Secure Parking on the corner of Goulburn & Elizabeth Streets, which is
adjacent to the SMC Conference Centre.
